File No. DV-386 (FMC) P6-a

Serial No.  337-5                                                                                                                         26 November, 2010

From: Captain McGhee, Commanding Officer

To: All Day of Defeat: Source players

Welcome to the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment web site and Realism unit. Our unit is rich in tradition and has earned many awards, including two Presidential Unit Citations. The 504th PIR distinguished themselves as being “A Force to be Reckoned With.” They succeeded where others failed. They fought the toughest battles. They became one of the most decorated airborne units of the War. All things considered it is safe to say that the legacy of the "Devils in Baggy Pants" will live on forever.

As a realism unit, we are striving towards the same goal as being a strong, tough, and resilient. Some of our current members came from the former 1st Special Service Force (1st SSF) while others came from other established realism units. We even have some that have never had experience in a realism unit. But no matter what the background, the mission remains the same – to be "A Force to be reckoned with". Weekly drills and scrimmages are strategies we use to sharpen and hone our skills for competition.

As the Commanding Officer, I expect a lot, not only from members, but also from myself. In all members; I expect
Professionalism and Maturity. My goal is not to have the most people, but to have the best people; I believe in Quality over Quantity.

For me, Day of Defeat: Source is not just a game, but a way to
Honor and Respect all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for what we have today. Let us not ever forget those who have served and are presently serving now defending our Freedom overseas.

            Signed,
